Professor Tapas Kumar Bandyopadhyay is a faculty member in the Department of Metallurgical & Materials Engineering at IIT Kharagpur. He holds a PhD from IIT Kharagpur and is noted for developing Fe-TiC and Fe-ZrC metal matrix composites using low-cost or waste raw materials. His research spans joining of dissimilar materials, advanced high-strength steels, melting & solidification, biomaterials, and intellectual property. He also serves as the Nodal Officer for Intellectual Property at the institute.
